A very interesting film event took place yesterday at the Janez Trdina Cultural Center – a double screening of the film Not Born Yesterday by Japanese director Kenji Fukuma. The film, which sensitively addresses the themes of memory, peace, and humanity, rounded up Bojan Radovič’s guest appearance at the Kocka Gallery, where he exhibited a series of photographs dedicated to the memory of the atomic attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. I participated in both screenings as a moderator.
Despite its demanding subject matter and slow film language, the morning screening, intended for high school students, surprisingly attracted young viewers – it opened up space for reflection on how history shapes the present and our understanding of peace. The screening was followed by a discussion with the author of the exhibition, Bojan Radovič.
The afternoon discussion after the screening brought together several participants: photographer Bojan Radovič, film producer Keiko Fukuma, and Prof. Dr. Nagisa Moritoki Škof, lecturer in Japanese at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana.
