What shapes who we are, and what do we carry with us when we build a life somewhere new? These were some of the questions I explored with Selma Nezirovac and migration researcher Dr Mirjam Milhar\u010di\u010d Hladnik in an episode of Kupola, the podcast of the Muslim Cultural Centre Ljubljana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our starting point was the project \u201cThree Generations of Women, Three Exhibitions: Memories, Migration and Identities\u201d, in which Bosniak women of different generations living in Slovenia each chose an object that revealed something essential about themselves. Working with photographer Katja Bidovec, they created images and stories about belonging, migration and the ties between past and present.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the host, I wanted to make room for the aspects of identity that simple labels of nationality or place of residence cannot capture. The objects opened the conversation; at its heart were the women and their very different life experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
