The Folklore Group Kres from Novo mesto marked its 50th anniversary with three full-length concerts, all of which sold out in advance due to exceptional public interest.
Visitors from across the region filled the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre, enthusiastically following a carefully curated programme that showcased some of Kres’s most outstanding productions from across its history. The performances combined tradition with contemporary interpretations of folklore heritage, placing particular emphasis on the inclusion of young performers and modern staging approaches.
I was involved in the project as host and co-scriptwriter of the concerts, author of the accompanying video content, as well as creative director and editor of the group’s new presentation catalogue.
The anniversary concerts – supported by a strong communication campaign -demonstrated that folklore continues to resonate with audiences of all generations, and that the preservation of cultural heritage remains one of the most compelling reasons for community gathering.
